New-Air were employed by a hospital trust to act as Principal Contractor for the replacement of a Pharmacy Manufacturing sites Chiller. We also carried out the refurbishment of the sites Air Handling Unit (AHU). We setup site with external welfare and accommodation facilities and created a designated works area.
The site was in close proximity to a railway line which meant that having explored the potential to crane the chillers from / to the site compound with the railway authorities we opted to crane the new chiller to the the permitted railway line boundary and then lift and shift these items of equipment to keep to the site schedule. We provided a temporary chiller for the duration of the works to ensure business continuity at the site, it is a 24/7 production facility for critical drugs and we needed to ensure minimal downtime planning critical shutdowns with the Site Managers.
The chiller was replaced, to include new interconnecting pipe services to the existing AHU, we carried out the insulation of pipe and duct services external to the building. The existing AHU structure was in good condition and it was therefore decided to keep the structure and refurbish each section individually. New fan motors, inverter drives and heating and cooling coils were installed as part of the works which were all undertaken in a timely manner over planned weekend shutdowns.
